How to Play

Objective

Collect the most valuable luxury items through auctions, BUT the player who spent the most money is automatically eliminated! Balance is key.

Game Components:

  • Luxury Cards (positive values) - Status symbols to acquire
  • Disgrace Cards (negative values) - Scandals to avoid
  • Money Cards - Your limited bidding power (different denominations)

Gameplay Mechanics:

  1. Auction Phase - Cards are revealed one at a time
  2. Bidding - Players bid using their money cards
  3. Once Spent, Gone Forever - Money cards used cannot be reclaimed
  4. Three Types of Cards:
    • Prestige cards (1-10 points)
    • Multiplier cards (x2)
    • Disgrace cards (negative points)

Winning Condition:

  • Highest total prestige score wins
  • BUT the player with the least money remaining is eliminated before scoring!

Strategy Tips:

  1. Money management is crucial - Don't overspend early
  2. Watch opponents' remaining money carefully
  3. Sometimes passing is the best move
  4. Disgrace cards can force opponents to spend
  5. Save money for the multiplier if you're collecting points

Why It's Great:

  • Quick and tense - Fast-paced auctions
  • Elegant design - Simple rules, deep decisions
  • Psychological warfare - Bluffing and reading opponents
  • Scales well - Different player counts work great
  • High replayability
